Tempting Fate by Jane Green book cover

Description of Tempting Fate by Jane Green on NetGalley:

From Jane Green, the New York Times bestselling author of such beloved novels as Jemima J, The Beach House, Another Piece of My Heart, comes an enthralling and emotional story about how much we really understand the temptations that can threaten even the most idyllic of relationships….

Gabby and Elliott have been happily married for eighteen years. They have two teen-aged daughters. They have built a life together. Forty-three year old Gabby is the last person to have an affair. She can’t relate to the way her friends desperately try to cling to the beauty and allure of their younger years…And yet, she too knows her youth is quickly slipping away. She could never imagine how good it would feel to have a handsome younger man show interest in her—until the night it happens. Matt makes Gabby feel sparkling, fascinating, alive—something she hasn't felt in years. What begins as a long-distance friendship soon develops into an emotional affair as Gabby discovers her limits and boundaries are not where she expects them to be. Intoxicated, Gabby has no choice but to step ever deeper into the allure of attraction and attention, never foreseeing the life-changing consequences that lie ahead. If she makes one wrong move she could lose everything—and find out what really matters most.
A heartfelt and complex story, Tempting Fate will have readers gripped until they reach the very last page, and thinking about the characters long after they put the book down.

My Personal Thoughts on Tempting Fate by Jane Green:

I was immediately pulled in on this book right from the start.  It starts out with Gabby getting ready to go out on a girls night and trying to find clothes that would make her feel good.  She feels frumpy and old and just not “hip” anymore.  Little does she know how this night out will affect the rest of her life.

Longing to feel those little butterflies again, she lets it go a little out of control and page after page leaves you wondering what will happen next.  I flew through this book because it was so good.  I haven’t flew through a book like this in so long, it was such a good feeling.

Read it and I just know you are going to love it too.

Makeup Monday–3 Sets of Makeup Tips

I am not an expert when it comes to makeup, but I do love it and have picked up these little tricks along the way.  Some I picked up off of others and some I just made up and some I read in magazines.  Maybe some of them you already know and maybe some you don’t.  Hopefully, you can learn at least one thing from me.

My Personal Makeup Tips

-Eye Primer-

If you wear any kind of eye makeup at all.  Invest in eye primer if you haven’t yet.  You’ll be amazed at the difference of your eye makeup if you do.  It was a couple years ago & I finally tried eye primer and I was hooked.  I use both eye shadow & eye liner, but really I could see the benefit if you just use eyeliner alone.  My personal favorite eye primer is Urban Decay Primer Potion.

-Applying Loose Powder-

After applying your eye primer, apply a small little bit of loose powder on top of your primer before you apply your regular eye makeup.  It seems to make it stick better and last longer for whatever reason.  I am not sure why, but it works.  So try it!

Also applying loose powder to your t-zone if you have an oily t-zone helps greatly on reducing shine.  Put a little bit between your cleavage to highlight it and make it look just over all better.  FYI – I love that last trick, I do it when wearing lower cut shirts with my push-up bras.

-When Using Eye Liners-

I just learned this little trick in a magazine and was in kind of aha that is actually worked.  If you are using a regular old eye liner that is penciled, before applying it rub it between your fingers for a few seconds to warm it up.  It will then glide on easily.  The main reason I switched to mostly gel and other type of eye liners is because I had such a hard time sometimes with the pencils, they were just rough and didn’t apply well.  Now I can use up my regular eye pencils with this little trick.  Do it and do it now!

Also apply eye liner before applying your eye shadow.  I don’t always do this, but that way you can smudge it and fix your eye liner without ruining your eye shadow.

I think that is it for this one, but hopefully I can do these every so often and help you pick up my little tricks when it comes to makeup.

Do you have any little tricks you’d like to share with me and the rest of the readers?  I’d love to hear them!

Day 92 - Roxy hates soccer nights92/365 – Roxy very much hates soccer nights in this house.  This evening I think she decided she was going to go and try and hide the bag so Daddy wouldn’t see it and forget he had soccer.

Day 93 - Roxy looking at me93/365 – Roxy looks at me so seriously like sometimes that I wonder just what she is thinking.

Day 94 - Pretty Flower94/365 – I love this flower.  Does anyone know the name of it?  It’s out by our cars and closes if the sun isn’t out and I think turns to where the sun is.

Day 95 - Rhododendron95/365 – I ran to work with Jason on Saturday and decided that I should take pictures of the Rhododendron outside the office.  It had been raining most of the day on and off as well.

Day 96 - Tulips at the Neighbors 96/365 – Our neighbors have some amazing bright tulips and so I decided I was going to run across the street to capture them because hello they were purple!

Day 97 - Beautiful Sunset in ManualDay 97 - Beautiful Sunset97/365 – You get two for today’s shot because I couldn’t choose and loved that even though they were basically taken at the same time, they look so different.  I was playing with my manual settings on the top one and on auto or scene at the bottom one.  Beautiful sunset though.

Day 98 - Roxy with Froggy98/365 – My sweet girl cuddled in with her blanket and froggy.

The Chase by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg Personal Review

Disclaimer:  The following post is part of a campaign, review or sponsored post.  I was given the product and/or have been financially compensated for the following post.  Post may also contain affiliate links. As always though all thoughts are 100% my own, as are most of the pictures included.

The Chase by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

I have been a fan of Janet Evanovich for quite sometime.  Her writing is light and usually has quite a bit of humor in it.  Which is why when The Chase popped up to read on net galley I had to snap it up.  Little did I know at first that it was the second book in the start of a new series featuring Fox & O’Hare.  The first book is called The Heist, so look for that one first before diving into The Chase.

Description of The Chase from Net Galley:
NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg, bestselling authors of The Heist, return in this action-packed, exciting adventure featuring master con artist Nicolas Fox and die-hard FBI agent Kate O’Hare. And this time around, things go from hot to nuclear when government secrets are on the line.

Internationally renowned thief and con artist Nicolas Fox is famous for running elaborate and daring scams. His greatest con of all: convincing the FBI to team him up with the only person who has ever caught him, and the only woman to ever capture his attention, Special Agent Kate O’Hare. Together they’ll go undercover to swindle and catch the world’s most wanted—and untouchable—criminals.

Their newest target is Carter Grove, a former White House chief of staff and the ruthless leader of a private security agency. Grove has stolen a rare Chinese artifact from the Smithsonian, a crime that will torpedo U.S. relations with China if it ever becomes public. Nick and Kate must work under the radar—and against the clock—to devise a plan to steal the piece back. Confronting Grove’s elite assassins, Nick and Kate rely on the skills of their ragtag crew, including a flamboyant actor, a Geek Squad techie, and a band of AARP-card-carrying mercenaries led by none other than Kate’s dad.
A daring heist and a deadly chase lead Nick and Kate from Washington, D.C., to Shanghai, from the highlands of Scotland to the underbelly of Montreal. But it’ll take more than death threats, trained henchmen, sleepless nights, and the fate of a dynasty’s priceless heirloom to outsmart Fox and O’Hare.

My Thoughts on The Chase:

I enjoyed reading The Chase by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg.  It had that right balance of action, humor, and a bit of romance sparks.  The chemistry between Fox & O’Hara is electric and draws you to see what will happen between them.  You have to wonder if they’ll get caught and what would happen if they did.  I will now have to pick up the first to see how it all began.  I strongly recommend you pick up the first book of the series first to read, though it was easy enough to read without reading the first book, I think you’ll enjoy the books more if you read the first one before the second.

Finish This…Week #14

Our lovely hosts are the following:  Lisa at Coastlined, Nicole at Three 31, Jen at The Airzona Russums, and Becky at The Java Mama!  Check them out and then play along!

1.  On Saturday morning, I usually…
wake up between 8 to 11 depending when we went to bed the night before/morning before.  No need to grab Roxy since Daddy is home and has gotten her downstairs with him.  Coffee is usually already made and all I have to do is make a cup, no need to press the button and wait for it to brew.  After that its your basic everyday morning.  I read the newspaper, play the games on my phone and then do a few things on my kindle.  After that its normal computer time unless we have something planned.

2.  I feel beautiful when…
my face is behaving itself, my hair is also behaving itself and my boobs are showing themselves well.  And there we have where I feel pretty good and beautiful.  Below is a picture where I felt beautiful!

Shane & I - Me feeling beautiful

3. I wake up every morning…
very similar to what I went through for the Saturday morning.  Roxy and I get up for good somewhere between 8 and 10.  I get up first and go potty than take down  my water and the kindle.  Usually put away the dishes that are in the drain and start the coffee pot.  Head back upstairs and rinse out my mouth and put in my eyes.  Then grab Roxy and my phone and we head downstairs to start our day.

4.  A happy home…
is one filled with laughter and love.  Never feeling like you shouldn’t do this or do that.  Always be welcomed with open happy arms.

5.  When I have down time, I…
do a variety of things:  read, watch trashy TV, play video games, or go for a walk.  All those relax me and give me happiness.  I also like to sneak in a bubble bath if I can.
